How to Get More Traffic To Your Blog or Website

In the quest to get more traffic to your blog, its important to remember that even the most successful blogs online today at one time had little to no traffic and with time and effort, the blog owner/owners were able to witness tremendous success and recognition. Many people quit blogging simply because they start to see it as a waste of time and this is usually due to the fact that they see little to no traffic from their blogging efforts and the notion that blogging is a ‘get rich overnight’ type of venture.

Why?

Because most people who start successful blogs usually follow most – if not all of the steps outlined below in order to get traffic to their new or established blogs.

How can you as a Blogger Get More Traffic to your Blog?

Even though there are countless ways you can get more traffic to your new blog, one of the most essential things you can do is to establish a NETWORK. The more networks that you have, the higher the chances that your blog content is to be exposed to more people and the higher the likelihood that your site will attract more traffic.

One of the best ways to get more traffic to your blog is to interact with others and what better way to do that than to use some of the most popular social media platforms such as:

  • Twitter
  • Facebook
  • Reddit
  • Pinterest

Why do I mention these four websites? Well because by using the above mentioned websites, you will find it easy to share your content with many other people as well as discover and follow other bloggers by using popular highly traffic social media sites in order to get traffic to your blog.

The following are other effective ways you can use to bring more traffic to your blog.

1. Blog commenting:

Comment on the top blogs in your related niche and try your hardest to be the very first top 5 people to leave a comment. Make sure that you are not spamming other people’s blogs but rather leaving relevant and helpful commentary that add value.

Want to find blogs in your chosen niche or area of interest? Simply type the following into the Google search engine ”your niche +blog” example: ”beauty + blog” into the search engine and once you click search, a list of the top blogs in your niche should come up.

2. Network with others using Facebook and twitter

Facebook: Join groups and like pages that are relevant to your chosen niche. Promote yourself according to Facebook guidelines and policy avoid leaving spam comments but perhaps even contact the admin and request if you could feature your content on their page/group in exchange for a link in your blog or a feature of them on your blog etc.

Twitter: Follow other well known bloggers within your niche and check out their followers, if you like what they have to offer, follow them as well. This is an effective and simple way to increase your Twitter followers and also the more followers you have, the greater the chances that the people on your Twitter feed will read your articles and retweet your content!

3. Video marketing:

Create an informative video and make sure to add a link back to your blog. For example, if you own and run a food and recipes blog, you can create a short video showing people how to make the perfect apple crumble and for further details you can include a link back to the specific post on your blog that would provide more detailed tips on how to perfect the apple crumble. Submit your video to YouTube and make sure to include all the necessary keywords (do not stuff too many keywords, a little goes a long way).

4. Spend time on quality content .

Never assume that the quality traffic will simply drop on your lap without any effort at all from your side.

There are millions of blogs out there and this makes it THAT much more important for you to differentiate yourself in order to stand out from the masses and establish your success. Patience is key here. Remember, it takes time to create quality content, however do not limit your time by spending it entirely on single 500-700 word posts.

Make sure your time is spent creating something of value.

Once in a while, you can write a 1000+  word post for your readers. If you are not a full time blogger, aim to at least try and create in depth posts once or twice in a month. This will establish you as an expert in your blogging niche.

4. Do not neglect SEO

Most people would conclude that you should forget all about Search Engine Optimization (SEO ) especially if you are going to start a new blog.

You will need to choose your keywords carefully and remain aware as to how much of a keywords density you want to maintain through your content. The proper keyword choice and density is what will help top search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing to find your blog once somebody types in a specific keyword into the search bar.

Its important that you do not stuff your keywords since this will make it difficult for your readers to decipher whatever it is that you are trying to say within your articles.  If Google senses that your content contains too many keywords, its more likely to give your website a lower score. Keyword stuffing just causes your site to be viewed as providing spam content and unless you want to be on page 20+ of search engine results, do not even waste your time with keyword stuffing.

If you are just starting a blog all you need to do is the proper keyword analysis before you write and publish any posts. Then embed the keywords in a natural way into your posts. For a beginner, this is more than enough SEO to get started.

Conclusion:

Always try and help others before you try and promote yourself. Remember, just as it is in real life the more people know that you are providing them with something of value, the higher the chances that other people will help to promote your content, but only if others find your content useful.

You will notice that guest blogging was not mentioned anywhere in this post. The main reason for this is since this post if focused for those who are just starting out online, guest blogging for established blogs usually requires one to be established and have somewhat of an online track record. So start off by getting traffic and establishing yourself within your chosen niche before you hop on the guest blogging bandwagon.

In order to get more traffic to your blog , your main focus should be on providing valuable content, building networks ans using social media to your advantage in order to succeed online.
